.EMBroidery TrueSizer FAQ
How do I open a design file?
1) Go to menu "File" then "Open"
2) The files are organized in folders named by the catagory they represent. You may double-click on the folder you wish to open. Then double-click on the file you wish to open. 
3) If you would like to open the .DST version of the file, change the "Files of type" to "All Files" to view all files in the folder or to "Tajima .DST" to view only the DST files in that folder 
4) Double-click on the file you wish to open. How do I save a design file to my hard drive? Once you have opened a file you may save it to your hard drive or choose from a wide range of file formats to convert it to. 1) Go to "File" then "save As" 
2) Use the "Save in" navigation at the top of the dialog box to choose the folder to save the design in to. 3) From the "Save as type" drop down list choose the format you wish to save the file in 
4) Click "Save" How do I save a design file in a different format? Follow the steps in Question #2 above. How do I see what the thread colors are? To view the list of thread colors you will print a production sheet. The first step is to pre-view the production sheet and make any changes you desire. One of the powerful features of using the .EMB file format is the ability to assign thread colors from a large selection of thread charts and print reports that reflect the thread color assigments. 1) Go to "File" then "Print Perview" 
2) There is a vast amount of options to choose from in the "Print Options" section. To start off with, select "Production Print" and "Production Summary". Then click "OK". 
3) The "Production Summary" provides a thumbnail view of the design and a listing of the thread colors along with some vital design information. Some of the options you could choose from the "Print Options" menu above are to
How do I change the thread colors? To change the current thread colors a colorway will need to be modified. This is a simple process and will permit reports to be printed with the exact thread assignments you intend to use. These new thread color assignments may also then be saved for future use. 1) Go to "Edit" then "Colorways" 
2) Designs from our earlier CDs will display two Colorways. The first one labeled "SSC" has default colors assign and can be easily modified using any chart available to the far right in the thread chart selection box. The second colorway is labeled "CC" and is already completed with ISACORD colors used in our sew outs. The "CC" Colorway may also be changed with thread colors of your choice. 
3) Designs may also contain three Colorways labeled "SSC", "ISACORD" and "Customer". This follows the same format as the previous method but provides an additional Colorway for customization. 
4) Individual thread assignments are modified by;
A quick way to locate thread colors in the thread choice area is to use the "Find" feature. By typing in the thread color code assigned by the thread manufacturer you will see that .EMBroidery TrueSizer locates the thread within the listing. 5) In order for the new thread color assignments to be saved for future use two steps must be followed.
Can I make the design look like stitches on screen? Although you can turn on the "TrueView" feature by clicking on the red blob looking icon located on the button bar, the easiest way to turn "TrueView" on and off is to use the hotkey "T". The "T" key will toggle "TrueView" on and off. "Production Worksheets" and "Production Summary" forms may be printed in "TrueView" by checking on the "TrueView" option in the "Print Option" sections. See Question 4 above. 
Can I change the background color? Yes you can and this can be a powerful selling tool for your customers when combined with modifying the design to the customer's desired thread colors and using "TrueView" to display the results. 1) Go to menu "Edit" then "Colorways". Each Colorway's top box is that Colorway's unique "Background" (BKG) color assignment. 
2) Double-clicking on the "BKG" box for "Colorway 1" (in this example) will bring up the "Colorway Display" dialog box. The "Colorway Display" box provides the choices between "Color" and "Fabric". 
3) Click on the "Color" "Edit" button. 
4) Select a color by clicking on a pre-colored box on the left side, or mixing your own color on the right side. Then click "OK" and "OK" one more time. 5) If you would like to use a fabric colored background, in step #3, click on "Fabric" and then "Browse". 
6) This will open a navigation window. Direct windows to look in the "C:\EMBWin\fabrics" folder. Here you will find several fabric swatches to choose from. 
7) Select the fabric swatch desired. Then click "Open" and then "OK". 
8) In the example above you can now see that "Colorway 1" has a light red background assigned and the "CC" Colorway has the Chambray.bmp background. "Production Worksheets" and "Production Summary" forms may be printed with a background color by checking on the "Background" option in the "Print Option" sections. See Question 4 above. Why won't the DST files display thread colors? .DST and other stitch file formats are not advanced enough to retain information such as thread color assignments. For this reason we have included all designs in the more advanced .EMB file format. Do not assign thread colors to a .DST file. This information and your hard work will be lost once the design is re-saved as a .DST file. Can I use .EMBroidery TrueSizer with other designs I own? Yes you may if the designs file type is one supported by .EMBroidery TrueSizer. To determine what files .EMBroidery TrueSizer will open follow the steps in Question 1 above. Scroll through the "Files of type" drop down list to view a complete listing of supported files types. Can I use .EMBroidery TrueSizer to color other designs I own? Yes you may. After a file has been opened using the steps in Question 1 above, then color the design using the steps in Question 5 above. Once those two steps are complete follow the steps in Question 2 above choosing .EMB as the designs file type. Although these steps will not convert the design to a true .EMB file, it will permit the design to now retain thread color information. |
